off the page with michelle

We have two treats for your tuesday. A darling art project from Michelle Clement AND a peak at five new mini alpha stickers!

Hi there! It's Michelle, here with a little 'off the page' paper action, today!

It's fun to break out of the scrapbooking box and try a little something different, once in a while - I have a soft spot in my heart for fabric, and have been embroidering a lot lately, too, so I thought - why not combine these loves with some paper goodness?

The 'Paper Crush' line is so gorgeous that it definitely deserves to be displayed as art (it's one of my faves!) - and I was really inspired by the painted goodness on the 'Love' paper piece I found in the collection.

I went with the painted inspiration and ended up making a cute lil collage on some simple canvas fabric - I first painted the wooden embroidery hoop to coordinate with the paper I wanted to use (I gathered a few bits before I started), and then framed the blank canvas fabric in the hoop.

I added the paper collage on top of the fabric using glue dots (they're magical - but you could probably use a spray adhesive, instead, too).

I accented the mini collage, once the paper was stuck down, with a little hand-stitching, a cute brad, and some paint splatters, too - and then made sure the fabric was stretched in the hoop well (it got stretched a little bit while working on the collage and had to be tightened), and then I glued the back edges into the inside of the hoop using a hot glue gun to finish it off.

And, voila! A cute super-quick mini collage with a lot of dimension! And all you have to do to quickly and easily display it is hang the hoop over a nail in your wall or tack it to an inspiration board!
