today it is my pleasure to introduce you to the talented jasmine low from singapore, an island southeast of asia, where it is hot all year round. the tropical heat of singapore must be doing the trick because this girls creativity is fired up! jasmine was so sweet to answer a bunch of questions about her life and scrapbooking for me to share with all of you. forewarning..... you might be inspired to book a flight to singapore after reading this post.
hi jasmine. to get started can you tell us a little about yourself?
i'm married to a really lovely patient man who indugles me with silly photos for my scrapbook pages :) i work as a merchandiser for my local scrapbook store as well as design and teach workshops. i design a new set of layouts for my sassafras series of workshops every couple of months.
this is made with love, jasmines local scrapbook store and site of her workshops. i think this shop should be in a singapore travel guides, possibly under the category of "top 10 reasons to fly to singapore".
so jasmine, when did you start scrapbooking and how often do you find the chance to scrapbook?
i started scrapbooking in early 2004 and have never looked back since! i get to scrapbook quite often due to the nature of my work. it could be designing for workshops, making samples for the store or just creating my personal pages.
what is the very first thing you do when you are ready to start a scrapbook layout? do you search for inspiration or just start with your own imagination?
when designing layouts for workshops i usually have all the supplies that i will be using in front of me and i make sketches. but for my own personal pages i just start with my photo and go with the flow. i almost never measure anything :)
do you have any special tricks or tips that you think could inspire our readers to try on their own pages?
i love the sassafras stickers and using parts of them on my layouts. try cutting the stickers up (especially the journal stickers!).... also use foam dots in between layers of stickers to add dimension to your page.
can you share a peak at what is inspiring you right now?
i love the mix of squares, colors and prints that made up the trees! such a cool idea for a scrapbook layout.
there you have it.... a view of a day in the life of jasmine, the scrapbooker. anyone else wanting to hop on the next jet to sunny singapore for a jasmine workshop?? i do i do!
thank you jasmine for sharing with us today!
if you have an idea of someone (including yourself) you think should be spotlighted on the sassafras blog for their super creativity leave a comment and let me know..... i would love to spotlight LOTS of sassafras pals.
have a great day everyone, see you here tomorrow with new inspiration!
rebecca =)
congratulations, Jasmine! truly deserving... and yes, Made With Love should be included in the travel guides.. woo hoo~~
