really? it's really friday already?

as you can see i did not keep up with this week very well! i am still stuck back in monday, but the calendar tells me it's friday! WOW that was a whirlwind. how about your week? was it a trickler.... or is anyone with me an wondering what ever happened to tuesday, wednesday and thursday? 

warehouse sale boxes have been flying out of the sassafras headquarters this week! so that means in the very near future we should be seeing projects popping up on your blogs and favorite galleries featuring your box goodies.

happy day....

exciting new projects from this birthday girl. miss celine navarro has mixed it up with apple jack and cherry delicious. she has a very free style that has and continues to inspire many of us! she makes you want to get a little messy in the name of beautiful art! 

i feel like i mention these banner stickers everyday....but....they keep appearing on almost every project that comes my way. they really are so FUN! they make such a great statement on projects, with no cutting, no glueing, no stitching....

ohhh look at this splash of color. i am guessing this is a misting job, maybe watercolor? either way it's a cool effect.

celine brings such a variety of elements to each project. i think this style inspires not over thinking projects. combine products that you love, and enjoy a creative freedom in mixing and matching.

   

this is a great example of allowing a wee bit of floral into a manly project. it works.... and looks great!

 

hope you are all having a HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!! i love this green day! i've spotted lots of green around our town this morning. we do live near a college, and it seems as though the entire school is out and about sporting there green spirit! how about you.... what's your plan for today? green mash potatoes anyone? trip to the nearest pub for a guiness?

more sunshine!

this weekend was the dreaded lose an hour of sleep time change here in america. does that happen everywhere in the world? i cringe at the thought of losing an hour of sleep, although once it's over i am so happy for more sunshine! i love that the sun is now setting an hour later.... love the extra daylight...love that we are getting closer and closer to SUMMER! 

today's projects are in honor of our jolly old fellow mr. sunshine! today's yellow is like the nice soft mellow glow of the sun that you get early in the day and late in the evening. you don't have to squint your eyes or put on sunglasses. this yellow compliments your photo's and is a great base to layer on ample amounts of your other favorite colors.

Peg manrique uses a mix of apple jack and nerdy bird patterns to capture a summer day...

kimberly neddo uses cherry delicious to share the love of these best friends....

 

she has highlighted a few of the products she used to make this page as happy as two best friends enjoying a sunshiney summer day.

photo corner's found on cherry delicious journal tags, these cardstock stickers are such an easy way to accent your project!

love how kimberly shows the versatility of the flag banner stickers, you don't have to stick them flat to your page. you can twist them, shape them, lift them up a bit. they look as though they were stitched to the page.....all without taking out your sewing machine or lifting a needle and thread. sweet and simple! 

paper blossoms are in full bloom! make one or two to accent your page, add a few brads as centers, and look what you have.....

kimberly has also used the shimmery glitter alphabet stickers stickers from apple jack. just the right size, and the glitter doesn't rub off!

one more project from kimberly today.... not based in yellow BUT it's just darling, so i'm sneaking it in...

are you getting excited for summer sun and summer FUN? i know that summer means LOTS of photo opps with all the family trips, picnics, beach days......... which then equals lots of beautiful projects to be created!

going to holland this may?

ever been on a gallery stroll? meandering thru a variety of galleries, mingling with fellow art appreciators, speculating piece after piece of art. for me this is usually a vacation kind of activity. wether it be a tiny little beach town or paris i love soaking up the local art scene.

i also love strolling online paper crafting galleries! it's so fun to paruse project after project and then one jumps out at me, and i stop and really take my time appreciating the talent behind the project.

a stroll thru scrapbook.com landed me at courtett's gallery. the picture of her and her mom is heart warming, it caught my attention right away. i love how the colors of the patterned papers she chose compliment her photo perfectly......

margrethe's gallery has stunning projects. her use of the beatnik buds in the center of her project stopped me in my tracks........

 

i was compelled to stop and gaze at an oldie but a goodie......

mandolin's gallery has rows of darling projects. i love her kraft base stacked with juicy patterned brightness....

this makes me smile.... her little guy has lots of pals to hang out with on this page.

tips and tutorials on a tuesday....

hello. how was your weekend? any happy crafting time for you? i have been busy crafting...BUT.....it's all for new product so i can't show you quite yet..... he he he. sorry for the tease! 

the girls on the sassafras supers design team have been giddy creating projects with the new collections. apple jack, nerdy bird, and cherry delicious are having fun in their new homes. 

christine middlecamp uses my type - apple jack as her base, and then layers, layers, layers in the amazing christine layering way.....

leila bentahar has created a birthday card that would be sure to put a smile on a birthday girls face.....

 

would you love even more inspiration from leila? each week on her blog she has a step by step tutorial to complete a darling project by friday of each week. this week she is using her october  kenner road kits which just so happened to be bursting with sassafras sweet marmalade beauty. join lilibee in her studio this week, and have fun with a fantastic tutorial!

 

peg manrique has a few boy projects for us! she has a classy simple style that i find very inspirational! peg starts with a solid base and mixes in lots of pattern by cutting her patterned paper down to not cover her entire page. if you want to mix more patterns into your projects, but prefer a simple style, give peg's method a try.

   

   

i would love to hear your tips and techniques! what little trick would you be willing to share with your fellow sassafras pals that will help make their paper crafting times even more fun and productive? last week birgit shared the tip of placing your letter stickers on a transparent ruler before adhering them on your project. this tip allows you to move your letters around to decide the perfect placement before sticking them on permanently! pretty cool, huh?
