two books

before i show you todays "birthday book inspirations" (jan 27th post) i have to share with you another book i got for my birthday that i can't wait to dig into....

 

did you see THE MOVIE? i keep referring to it as THE MOVIE because i can't stop talking about it, and everyone in my family knows exactly what i mean when i reference something from THE MOVIE. i missed seeing JULIE and JULIA in theatres, so i'm a little behind you new release buffs. BUT i have seen it and am completely smitten with julia childs and would like to attempt to master at least a few of her recipes. i don't think i'll be de-boning ducks anytime soon, or buying 10 pounds of butter on my next grocery stop, but i am anxious to put on my apron and see what exciting new dishes i can learn from julia. 

here are two girls that have mastered the art of sassafras scrapbooking.....

i am so grateful for a world where we can share our talents, passions, and ideas thru either a 1960's classic cookbook passed down thru generations or a scrapbooking blog bursting with the talents of so many amazing crafters! i love soaking up the inspiration that comes from our design team and passing it on for your enjoyment as well. hope you are inspired to cook up a creative storm! i am =)

sassafras, supers, a sob, and a smile....

hello =) are you getting so excited for all the new products that have been released over the past couple of weeks? i've seen gorgeous goods from so many great companies. we are anxiously awaiting delivery of boxes and boxes of new sassafras products at our warehouse. a few more sprinkles of glitter and we should be just about ready to go! lots of orders are coming in everyday, thank you reatailers!!  hopefully your favorite local scrapbook shop has placed theirs! (and if you need to give them a friendly reminder, we don't mind....he he he)

i can't wait to show you fresh projects with new collections from the sassafras design team. i meant to share this exciting news last week, BUT better late than never..... we sent invitations to all 12 design team girls to keep designing with us for 2010... the response? unanimous! all of us at sassafras are delightfully giddy to have the opportunity to share another year with 12 spectacular girls! speaking of the design team, today's inspiration from "the birthday book" comes from peg manrique our vermont girl, and vicki boutin our east coast canadian. thank you girls.......for making me sob and smile all in one moment!

my precious birthday present

i just had my 35th birthday! the number 35 feels a bit shocking to say out loud or type, but it happened, and here i am...... very grateful for many many things. i received a birthday present that was the most precious birthday present i have ever opened. i knew the beautifully wrapped box had to contain something special when my whole family gathered around, with a video camera, anticipating my reaction.

i opened the box, pulled out a filled to the brim scrapbook, felt a few seconds of confusion, and then it started to register that this was a scrapbook of projects made by our design team, and i had an explosion of tears! (burst of tears seems inadequate)

for the past month my husband, a few girls in our office, and the entire sassafras design team have been secretly consorting to put together this book for my birthday. each girl on the team printed pictures of our two girls, used lots of sassafras products and made the most beautiful projects to be part of an extremely heartfelt precious gift. if you have ever made a scrapbook to give to someone as a gift, let me tell you as the gift receiver, i think it is one of the most priceless gifts you can ever give. keep it up! keep blessing the people you care about with your talent, i am sure they will appreciate it for your years to come.

i looked at my book page by page 10 times before i went to bed. there was so much detail and passion put into every single page i appreciated something different with each look through. i have to share these pages with you because the talent of our design team continues to amaze all of us at sassafras, and has once again ignited a new spark of inspiration for us to keep making products.

We miss you!

If you are at CHA and missing the sassafras booth.....we are missing you too!!! We posted back in December that we would be sitting out this one CHA show. Now that CHA is here we just wanted to say how much we miss your sweet smiles in our booth, BUT we are excited about all the happenings at sassafras homebase, and know you will be too!!! Coming this week.....I received a beautiful gift this past weekend, and have to share the beauty with you!!

sweet marmalade is the treat of the day...

today i have a TREAT for you! pour yourself a cup of tea, perhaps a yummy snack of crackers and jam, and sit back and relax while you partake in a savory sampling of sweet marmalade inspiration. i wish i could tell you i was a master of sewing.....BUT it is sew not true. my few attempts with a sewing machine have not been successful. i have aspirations.... one day.... i will learn to sew, and maybe even make something post-able. maybe =)

wether you are a talented seamstress or in seam distress, (like me) the sweet marmalade collection makes your projects look hand stitched without ever threading a needle.

a few of the girls on our design team signed up for some lighting fast scrapping last week. we rushed out the samples we had on hand, and within 24 hours the very first projects from the brand new collections were born. enjoy!

kay rogers has lip smacking yummy style, and starts the new season of cherry delicious  with scrum-diddly-umptious design...

calling all card makers.......

a couple of weeks ago there was an awesome card making post on the moxie fab world blog. one of the spotlighted card makers was the very talented courtney kelley. i really loved the pretty simplicity of the card cath chose to showcase on the moxie blog. i took a tour thru courtney's blog and found a wealth of inspiration for card making.

i really love how courtney used the sassafras layered blossoms to make sweet little thank you bouquets.

 

i forgot to tell you last week in all the excitement of showing you the new collections that we also have new wee bundles!! these cute little 6x6" stacks are handy for making cards. the best part about these wee bundles.... each pattern is a mini of it's matching 12x12".
