war of the desert roses.

hello friends. it's me sandy.

welcome to the weekend!

our focus on flowers has hit close to home this week. my two sisters have been engaging in a war of the roses. they both purchased a desert rose which, according to the internet,  is the hot new houseplant because of its bizarre shape, beautiful flowers, and tolerance to occasional neglect. perfect!

my older sister hayley's plant was the first to show promise. she bragged about the long green leaves and how luscious they were. shortly thereafter, all the leaves fell off and her plant has looked like this for quite some time (note the now brown leaves at the bottom. they are pretty long. ) :

a desert stick.

my younger sister mindy had nothing to show when hayley was bragging about her green leaves, but finally had a breakthrough. she made sure to notify everyone about it. she texted pictures and sent back-up images just in case to boast that not only did her desert rose have long luscious leaves... her desert rose had a desert rose! 

hayley wondered where she had gone so wrong. had she exceeded the amount of occasional neglect her plant could tolerate? was her desert rose just a dud? she watered her plant and checked for signs of life. nothing. ... 

nothing. until today.

gasp! it's beautiful!

june showers bring june flowers...

summer is finally here (today for some of you, yesterday for us... oh science and nature!) ... with all the rain we have been getting, we didn't even see summer coming! the days have been getting longer but the hot hot heat has stayed at bay.

until probably now. 

we're gonna heat things up this week by showering you with flowers.  sassafras has a bouquet of flowery options: in a stitch blossom, paper whimsies blossoms, layered blossoms and our paper and stickers.

jill had some sassafras fun while mixing up hog heaven, happy place, bungle jungle, anthem and some paper whimsies blossoms. 

 

diana mixed up her sunshine lollipop wee bundle with vintage yummy to make this oh so pretty card. 

lynn dug deep and mixed up some of our earliest papers with bungle jungle and some of our clear stamps.

something old. something new.

hello hello. how are you today?

we'll start off with a little something new. 

tracie hudson sent us these projects using felties.

1. lilly's room."i used a piece of clear acrylic to create this door hanger for my little friend, lilly, to hang from her bedroom door. the paper whimsies blossoms, when layered up, worked perfectly to create the tree for the little owl chap to sit underneath."

2. happy birthday to you. "the felties really are so fun to use. this little cupcake was crying out to me to be teamed up with a journaling sticker and used to create an acrylic card."

and now some olds mixed in with the news. sent in by you!

gaelle loves her cat. we love how she mixed anthem and life at the pole papers in this layout. 

jill loves sassafras lass! she made a paper bag album and couldn't decide which papers to use so she mixed it up and used a little bit of everything. we love how she perfectly coordinated the paper together.
